Romans 10:9-13

“… if you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. As Scripture says, ‘Anyone who believes in him will never be put to shame.’ For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile – the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, for, ‘Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.’”

What do squash, bowling, billiards, tug of war and flying disc (similar to throwing Frisbees), all have in common?

Well done if you know that they were events in The World Games which took place a few weeks ago in Chengdu, China. However, apart from squash which will be making its debut, they will not be events in the next Olympic Games as they do not meet the requirements set by the International Olympic Committee. There are many requirements and regulations, but a starting point is that they must be widely practiced by men and women in at least 75 countries on 4 continents and by women in no fewer than 40 countries on 3 continents.

Romans 10:9-10 gives the only requirements for entry into heaven – it doesn’t depend on how good we are, where we live, our ethnicity, our gender, what we’ve done. The Lord Jesus Christ has done the work, by dying on a cross and being raised from the dead. Once we ask God to forgive us and say “Jesus is Lord”, but also believing it in our hearts, then He promises us we will be saved!
